What to Expect

01

The Set Up

Katheryn Salazar will meet with you and say “I have a fixed fee and that’s all you pay. But the great thing is that I’ll get you such great designer discounts that the money you save will basically pay my fee!” Wow Katheryn, that’s sounds awesome!

02

The Order

Katheryn Salazar will place the order for all the furniture she picked for your home. She will insist that she can not share the links. She can only show you pictures of the items. You will think “Isn’t that odd not to share the links?”

03

The Money

Katheryn Salazar will tell you exactly how much she is spending after getting you her terrific designer discounts. You pay her the money and feel excited.

04

The Reality

You look up one of the items because you need specs and see that it cost much less than she said it did. So you look up others. They ALL cost much less than she said. She passed on none of her discounts and additionally applied a huge markup to almost everything she ordered.

05

The Confrontation

You tell Katheryn Salazar that you can see that she gave you fake inflated prices. She informs you that you are a toxic customer and no longer wishes to work with you. She keeps the rest of the money you gave her–even the money she hasn’t spent yet.

06

The Ghosting

After inquiring about this, you never hear from her again. No receipts, no response. She just keeps your money and never another word. Of course, this is just my own experience. You may have much better luck with her than I did.

The worst experience I’ve had with any professional ever. I’ve resorted to making a damn webpage for it. Find someone else. Anyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why don’t you take her to court?

I am! The point of this is to simply make my experience available to others who might be considering working with her. I’ll update this page with the results of the court outcome.

Doesn’t she have a conscience? How can she just keep your money like that?

I can’t speak to that. I wondered the same thing.

Why don’t you just ask her for the receipts?

Good luck with that.

What do you hope to achieve by creating a website for this?

Just to let other people know what my own personal experience was. Maybe I was a one-off. Maybe she was just in a bad mood because my daughter wanted pink in her bedroom (that did actually seem to really annoy her).

Isn’t it perfectly OK to markup the things she buys as a decorator?

Absolutely, yes, that is the American way. But telling me to my face that she was going to get me better prices than I could get on my own was just plain lying. She secretly marked everything up while claiming that she was saving me money! On average by 33% for additional profit. And if you DO ask your decorator about markups, they’re not supposed to call you toxic and run away with the rest of your money. Fair?
